Sometimes the songs just mash themselves. This was a pretty obvious idea for a mash-up considering the original version of Watching You contains re-recorded guitar riffs from My Sharona. For some reason the Rogue Traders remind me a great deal of Transvision Vamp and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm assuming the Rogue Traders legally obtained permission to use The Knack's guitar riffs. If not, I guess The Knack will get around to suing them in about 20 years since that's about how long it took them to realize Run-DMC sampled the same riff in It's Tricky. Even with the songs sharing the same riff I have to tip my hat to Guy Garrett for the mix. I've lost track of how many mash-ups have used My Sharona over the years. After awhile they all start to sound the same. I think the inclusion of the Offspring sample sets this one apart and makes this mix stand out.
